Khalid H. Kahn received a B.Sc in Mining Engineering from the West Pakistan University of Engineering & Technology in 1967. He came to the U.S.A in 1969 for his graduate staudies and obtained an M.S and a Ph.D in Materials Engineering from N.C State University at Raleigh in 1972 and 1975, respectively. Khalid joined the Oregon Graduate Institute in 1975 as Director, Electron Microscopy Laboratory, and participated in research on fracture mechanics residual stress analysis, and laser-metal interactions. He moved to the University of Portland in 1979 where he has developed courses and laboratories in materials, manufacturing, and experimental mechanics. He is currently Professor of Mechanical Engineering and Associate Dean of the School of Engineering. If you have never had the pleasure of hearing Khalid speak, this is a great opportunity. He has a wealth of information just waiting to be shared.
